Stanley Opara

Managing Partner

Stanley is a director at MEG, bringing extensive local and international experience in the oil and gas industry. He started his career as a seismic processing geophysicist with WesternGeco Schlumberger in Port Harcourt where he led major processing projects for international oil and gas companies in Nigeria. Some of his work contributed to major discoveries offshore Nigeria and across the Gulf of Guinea. He is skilled in 2D/3D time processing, depth imaging, 4D seismic processing and other advanced seismic processing algorithms and workflows.

Stanley possesses an in-depth knowledge of various seismic processing and modelling tools including Omega and Petrel. He led the commercialization of Seismic Guided Drilling (SGD) across Europe and Africa before departing Schlumberger to lead strategy, benchmarking and process optimization for one of Canada’s major oil and gas operators. He contributes to the global conversation on energy transition, emissions reduction and sustainable energy production. He has been involved in helping organizations develop decarbonization strategies as a senior consultant at the global advisory firm, Deloitte. He is also involved in developing emissions reduction solutions for major organizations signed up to the Global Methane Partnership convened by the United States and the European Union.

Stanley is an active participant at major global conferences where he regularly speaks and appears on panel discussions. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Geophysics from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and a Master of Business Administration from Ivey Business School in London, Ontario, Canada.
