Ebele Oraghalum
Seismic Processing and Imaging Geophysicist with over 17 years of international experience. Employed by SLB in 2006 as a Seismic Processing Geophysicist and over the years worked in the UK, Nigeria, and the US, at several key positions from a Seismic Processing Geophysics Lead, Seismic Processing Geophysics Supervisor, and eventually an Area Geophysicist, leading, managing, and providing technical supervision to multi-national teams of geophysicists at different career experiences and levels, involved in a variety of high-end seismic exploration projects in different parts of the world, such as Gulf of Mexico, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea, Brazil, Gulf of Guinea, including Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Saotome Principe, etc. covering differing seismic acquisition geometries including land and marine geo-streamer surveys as well as the novel Ocean Bottom Seismic (OBS) surveys, to drive seismic processing and imaging tools that yielded outstanding geologically enhanced images with accurate depiction of the subsurface.
In addition, made several significant contributions to the growth and advancements of various highly demanding SLB’s seismic exploration technologies, conducting advanced key research on a variety of seismic processing and imaging techniques, overseeing the improvement and derivation of multiple cutting-edge and bespoke algorithms, that generated high-priority improved workflows which helped eliminate typical data challenges, enabling applicability of a number of advanced imaging algorithms, ultimately yielding superior solutions and deliverables that met and surpassed clients’ objectives.
With an extensive industry career and in-depth knowledge of seismic operations across multiple regions, I recently accepted an early-retirement offer from SLB mid-2023, to channel my wealth of experience to independently develop the next generation of seismic imaging professionals, hence co-founded Merci-Éclat Geophysicals (MÉG) as a managing partner. MÉG is a start-up goal-oriented Energy Consulting Service Company dedicated to providing a wide range of geophysical solutions to the exploration industry. Notably, my boundless industry experience has led to MÉG’s first major contract awarded by SLB’s Network Excellence in Training (NExT), a 2-year global contract, to provide competency development, skills assessment, and evaluation for their Geosolution personnel and clients.
